چکیده

This paper presents the theoretical and experimental possibilities of a modulated photothermal method, laser induced photoreflectance, for inspecting the quality of interfaces with rnicronic spatial resolutions. An analytical model is established for semi-infinite materials containing an internal interface perpendicular to the sample surface. The presented application is the detection of thermal resistances in damaged materials.

Wave optics version of photoreflectance signal formation in thermal wave experiments with solids

A common approach to the determination of the photoreflectance signal within the framework of wave optics is developed. It is shown that different modes of operation of the thermal wave photoreflectance microscope are possible. In recent years there has been increasing interest in the development and application of a photoreflectance thermal wave method. It has been successfully used as a power...

Application of the photoreflectance technique to the characterization of quantum dot intermediate band materials for solar cells

Intermediate band materials rely on the creation of a new electronic band within the bandgap of a conventional semiconductor that is isolated from the conduction and valence band by a true zero density of states. Due to the presence of the intermediate band, a solar cell manufactured using these materials is capable of producing additional photocurrent, thanks to the absorption of photons with ...

Characterization of the Orthotropic Elastic Constants of a Micronic Woven Wire Mesh via Digital Image Correlation

Woven structures are steadily emerging as excellent reinforcing components in dual-phase composite materials subjected to multiaxial loads, thermal shock, and aggressive reactants in the environment. Metallic woven wire mesh materials in particular display good ductility and relatively high specific strength and specific resilience. While use of this class of materials is rapidly expanding, a si...

Photoreflectance Study of Electric Field Distributions in Semiconductors Heterostructures Grown on Semi-Insulating Substrates

We have studied the photoreflectance (PR) spectra from a MBE grown heterostructure consisting of 200 nm of Gao.s3A10.~7As, a 800 nm GaAs buffer layer on a semi-insulating (100) LEC GaAs substrate. By varying both the pump beam wavelength and modulation frequency (up to 100 kHz) we are able to identify the component layers, their quality and the properties of the various interfaces. In this stud...

Cobalt oxide nanoparticles by solid-state thermal decomposition: Synthesis and characterization

In this study, mononuclear octahedral cobalt(III) Schiff base complex [CoL3], L = (5-bromo-2-hydroxybenzyl-2-furylmethyl)imine, was synthesized from the reaction of Co(NO3)2•6H2O and the Schiff base ligand L in methanol as solvent. It used as a new precursor to prepare spinel type cobalt oxide nanoparticles by a facile solid-state thermal decomposition. Controlling the temperature and time, Co3...
